Dental Implants
What is a dental implant?
Dental implants are crowns attached to a titanium post that has been placed in the jawbone, similar to the roots of natural teeth. The crown is the tooth shaped portion visible in the mouth, and is constructed just like a crown placed over a natural tooth. It is carefully color-matched and sculpted to match the surrounding teeth.
Why get a dental implant?
Dental implants are used to replace single or multiple missing teeth. Constructed entirely of titanium and ceramic, implants are sturdy restorations and last for a long time if cared for properly. The advantages of implants over other methods of replacing teeth are they are cemented in place and don’t require preparation of teeth on either side of the space.
Other options for replacing missing teeth are dental bridges and partial dentures.
